DUTIES: Monitoring of blasting operation, rig helidecks, main decks, and other newly fabricated structure in the rig, using the recommend surface preparation both in ship yard and in operational one.
Checking of certain humidity and dew points prior to coating and also carry out all the necessary test, like W.F.T, D.F.T and blotter test if applicable.
Taking report of all coating activities for documentation.
Monitor grit blasting of rig leg (jack-up) in ship yard to meet a specified anchor profile.
Blasting of the pontoon, spot cans and coating as well.
Making sure all the instruments are well calibrated prior to measurements.
Monitor all corrosion control and prevention activities.
Hydro blasting of high pressure pipe lines for Mud, cement and barite as well.
Blasting and coating and Flare boom, making the right choice of thermal resistant coating.
Provide my expertise advice to my crew to avoid and compromise with standards.

Skils
• Ability to carry out coating inspection activity on structural steel, and pipe on a newly construction site and existing production site as for maintenance coating or repairs, carry out visual and instrumental checking for, DFT, WFT, Blotter test, Holiday, and adhesion test base on the specification.
• Carrying out pre-checks on newly fabricated structures to see if there are welding defects and hence recommend for repairs, prior to any surface preparation/coating as well.
• Ability to carry out checks on some coated structures, to see if there are hard to reach area and hence, recommend for strip coating.
• Ability to carry out maintenance on life plants, like NLNG, petrochemical and also can evaluate for corrosion damages in existing ones.
• Inspection of blasting operation/coating activities of rig Pontoon, Helidecks, Main deck, Rig floors, Ballast tanks, cement and barite tanks, to meet with specification.
• Inspection of tanks external coating in crude oil facilities, chemical tanks, water tanks, and food storage tanks, making sure the best corrosion resistant coating is used also the tank inner lining for immersion services. |
